An Introduction to Analog and Digital Communications (Hardcover)
I have found this text an appropriate, to the point, with adequate mathematics. It is much better than the other book "Communication Systems" by the same author. However, for certain details one has to refer back to the other book(s) from Lathi, Couch, Proakis, Stern, Carlson, and Zeimer, etc. When following this book, the students also find this book useful. However, if it was supported with MATLAB codes from within the text, (or available on the web site)it would have been highly appreciable. Currently this book seems to be a very good choice for a first course in Communication Systems. I request the publisher to make available the solution manual on the web as free resource

Steel Design
Steel Design covers the fundamentals of structural steel design with an emphasis on the design of members and their connections, rather than the integrated design of buildings. Not only is Steel Design a revision of LRFD Steel Design, it also encompasses the 2005 unification of LRFD and ASD as is covered in the Steel Construction Manual. The book is designed so that instructors can easily teach either LRFD or ASD, or both, time-permitting, as the differences in the two approaches are mostly conceptual. The application of fundamental principles is encouraged for design procedures as well as for practical design, but so is a theoretical approach, enhancing the students development. While the book is intended for junior-and senior-level engineering students, some of the later chapters can be used in graduate courses. Due to the changes that were made to many provisions of the Steel Construction Manual, practicing engineers will find this text useful in reviewing current practices and it will be an essential reference tool.
Plastic Analysis and Design of Steel Structures
The plastic analysis method has been used extensively by engineers for designing steel structures. Simpler structures can be analyzed using the basic virtual work formulation, but more complex frames are evaluated with specialist computer software. This new book sets out a method for carrying out plastic analysis of complex structures without the need for specialist tools. The book provides an introduction to the use of linear programming techniques for plastic analysis. This powerful and advanced method for plastic analysis is important in an automated computational environment, in particular for non-linear structural analysis. A detailed comparison between the design codes for the United States and Australia and the emerging European Eurocodes enables practising engineers to understand the issues involved in plastic design procedures and the limitations imposed by this design method. * Covers latest research in plastic analysis and analytical tools * Introduces new successive approximation method for calculating collapse loads * Programming guide for using spreadsheet tools for plastic analysis
