Rainbow Gliding Hawk and the Last Stand of the Patriarch
Allison Hassenpfeffer-Thayer is a dreamer, a wide-eyed rainbow chaser whose fertile mind forever spews forth wildly impractical new ideas. Her husband Larry is the opposite-an ultra-anal, organize-your-sock-drawer kind of guy. But theyre young and in love, and when Allison cons Larry into moving to a little northwest mountain town to raise emus, he cant say no. But rural paradise sours when Allison becomes a true believer in radical environmentalism and ends up tree-sitting with the ultimate enviro-stud, a swashbuckling alpha-male who calls himself Michael Wolfcaller. RAINBOW GLIDING HAWK AND THE LAST STAND OF THE PATRIARCH is a timely story about saving the world and losing your marriage. Its a contemporary trip with well-meaning folks who inadvertently screw up their lives and learn that true love-and just causes-dont always mix.
Arabellas Secrets
It was suppose to be their honeymoon. Nick Stone renowned pothead, trouble-maker, and all around Good Guy accompanied by his mentally unstable and very pregnant wife Laurie, take a trip to Nicks birthplace a tiny and forgotten little island called Arabella. Home to Spanish natives and retired Naval officers, Arabella is a hidden paradise to those who know of its existence.
Its In The Music
Have you ever really listened to music? Sometimes its not what we hear that can harm us, but what we cant. When a college science professor harnesses the ability to read and control human thoughts through radio transmissions, hes kidnapped and not heard from again. Meanwhile, a string of grotesque murders are popping up all over southeast Michigan, starting with 19-year-old Amanda Grace being methodically tortured and murdered in her apartment. No witnesses, no clues. Nick Stone teams up with laid-back Detective Jack Noble of the Detroit Police on the streets of Detroit and in the skies over Michigan to find the source of these murders, and their only clue: Its in the music.
Itchy Donner
Itchy Donner doesnt have much going for him. A rashy eleven-year-old growing up fatherless in a dying backwoods Idaho timber town, Itchy is obsessed with the past-specifically, his familys past. Itchys the great-great-great grandson of Tamsen Donner, the Donner Partys famous matriarch, and Itchy studies his ancestors history with the relentlessness that only a true nerd can muster. He and his mother Irene live poor but happy in a ramshackle singlewide, and Irene encourages Itchys interest and pride in his illustrious ancestors. But their predictable lives are forever turned upside-down when the wandering gyppo logger Red Donner-Itchys blustery, larger-than-life father-blows back into town looking to make amends for his past and put his family back together again. ITCHY DONNER is a tragi-comic tale of liars and dreamers, of the distant Donner ghosts who haunt Itchys present, and of Itchys quest to understand the past, know his father, and make his family whole again.
Lyndas Lie
The slender framed boy stood and watched the beetle crawl across the rotted body of a dead cat. The wind gently ruffled his short black hair. He picked up a stick and poked at it. More beetles swarmed out of its body cavity. The English summer sun gently shined down on him causing a small bead of sweat to appear on his lip. Edan sat down beside the dead animal. Fascinated, he pushed one of its eyelids up and tried to pop out the cats glazed over eye.
Just Passing Through
I believe there comes a time in every mans life when he needs to stop what hes doing and take a good look at the choices hes made and the direction in life those choices take him. Ultimately, bad choices will lead you down the wrong path in life nearly every time. Though sometimes, no matter how hard you try to make the right choices, fate still finds a way to somehow make you regret it. I discovered this as I lay bound by wrists and ankles in the trunk of a cherry red 1963 Corvette convertible, somewhere on Route 322 in Pennsylvania.
Runaways
Jimmy Biffmans life has just cratered. His wife dumps him for Dr. Dwayne the periodontist, hes downsized out of a job, and hes living in a trailer in his best friend Ericas backyard. So, when Erica hatches a wild scheme to recapture Jimmys lost youth, hes powerless to resist. RUNAWAYS is the journey of two 40 somethings looking for a life theyre convinced has passed them by. With a naive belief in whats possible and a foolish misunderstanding of the risks they end up completely out of their element and in way over their heads. The unsavory predators who suck them into their world know exactly what theyre doing unlike Erica and Jimmy, who, like two giddy high schoolers cutting class, have no idea what theyre in for. Their new lives wont turn out remotely as theyve planned
The Variant Effect
The old furrier building in a rundown part of Metro was the perfect place to find a body, and Joe Borland knew they wouldnt have dragged him out of retirement to see it if something hadnt eaten its skin. Its been twenty years since Borland battled the Variant Effect, and twenty since he let his partner get skinned alive. Now both of them are ordered back into action to meet the new threat.
Odd-Jobs
Meet Nick Stone. The highlight of Nicks day had always been smoking Jane, drinking beer, and causing trouble. Usually all at the same time. But that all changed when Dad woke up with a dead stripper in his bed. This story promises to offend you, insult you and entertain you, all at the same time. In Odd-Jobs, the author holds blatant contempt for literary merit, and the result comes off a little like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Corvus
In a slightly alternate world the minds of teen offenders are uploaded into computers for rehabilitation a form of virtual wilderness therapy. Zach is a homo cognoscens, one of the new humans with startling but as yet poorly understood cognitive abilities who can enter the virtual Fulgrid. Though still a high school student, he is indentured to the Fulgur Corporation as a counsellor. Laura is a homo sapiens. They meet and fall in love across barriers of fear and hatred, exacerbated by Zachs growing involvement with an underground political movement. There is some mystery as to the fate of his parents, while Lauras dad is a prominent neuroscientist with the Fulgur Corporation. Lines of loyalty are difficult to untangle, particularly because both have suffered a certain measure of emotional trauma in their early lives. From the very first chapters there is a sense of impending tragedy.
