EBook Description: Algebra: Graduate Studies in Mathematics /by I. Martin Isaacs. This book, based on a first-year graduate course the author taught at the University of Wisconsin, contains more than enough material for a two-semester graduate-level abstract algebra course, including groups, rings and modules, fields and Galois theory, an introduction to algebraic number theory, and the rudiments of algebraic geometry. In addition, there are some more specialized topics not usually covered in such a course. These include transfer and character theory of finite groups, modules over artinian rings, modules over Dedekind domains, and transcendental field extensions. This book could be used for self study as well as for a course text, and so full details of almost all proofs are included, with nothing being relegated to the chapter-end problems. There are, however, hundreds of problems, many being far from trivial. The book attempts to capture some of the informality of the classroom, as well as the excitement the author felt when taking the corresponding course as a student.

Beginning and Intermediate Algebra: An Integrated Approach
The new edition of BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA is an exciting and innovative revision that takes an already successful text and makes it more compelling for today's instructor and student. The new edition has been thoroughly updated with a new interior design and other pedagogical features that make the text both easier to read and easier to use.
Known for its clear writing and an engaging, accessible approach that makes algebra relevant, BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA helps students to develop problem-solving skills and strategies that they can use in their everyday lives. The new edition welcomes two new co-authors Rosemary Karr and Marilyn Massey who along with David Gustafson have developed a learning plan to help students succeed in Beginning Algebra and transition to the next level in their coursework. The authors have developed an acute awareness of students' approach to homework and present a learning plan keyed to new Learning Objectives and supported by a comprehensive range of exercise sets that reinforces the material that students have learned setting the stage for their success.
Elementary and Intermediate Algebra: A Combined Approach (5th Edition)
Master algebraic fundamentals with Kaufmann/Schwitters Elementary and Intermediate Algebra 5e. Learn from clear and concise explanations, multiple examples and numerous problem sets in an easy-to-read format. The text's 'learn, use & apply' formula helps you learn a skill, use the skill to solve equations, then apply it to solve application problems. With this simple, straightforward approach, you will grasp and apply key problem-solving skills necessary for success in future mathematics courses.
Algebra: Form and Function
This book offers a fresh approach to algebra that focuses on teaching readers how to truly understand the principles, rather than viewing them merely as tools for other forms of mathematics. It relies on a storyline to form the backbone of the chapters and make the material more engaging. Conceptual exercise sets are included to show how the information is applied in the real world. Using symbolic notation as a framework, business professionals will come away with a vastly improved skill set.

Elementary Algebra, 9 edition
Kaufmann and Schwitters have built this text's reputation on clear and concise exposition, numerous examples, and plentiful problem sets. This traditional text consistently reinforces the following common thread: learn a skill; practice the skill to help solve equations; and then apply what you have learned to solve application problems

Linear Algebra for Economists
This textbook introduces students of economics to the fundamental notions and instruments in linear algebra. Linearity is used as a first approximation to many problems that are studied in different branches of science, including economics and other social sciences. Linear algebra is also the most suitable to teach students what proofs are and how to prove a statement. The proofs that are given in the text are relatively easy to understand and also endow the student with different ways of thinking in making proofs. Theorems for which no proofs are given in the book are illustrated via figures and examples. All notions are illustrated appealing to geometric intuition. The book provides a variety of economic examples using linear algebraic tools. It mainly addresses students in economics who need to build up skills in understanding mathematical reasoning. Students in mathematics and informatics may be interested in learning about the use of mathematics in economics.
Vector Algebra
First published in 1954, this book is now presented as a new edition replacing the 1999 edition. It covers many fields including Scalar products, metric geometry, vector products, properties of Tetrahedra together with statics of vectors.
