Elementary and Intermediate Algebra: Larson IS student success. Elementary and Intermediate Algebra owes its success to the hallmark features for which the Larson team is known: learning by example, a straightforward and accessible writing style, emphasis on visualization through the use of graphs to reinforce algebraic and numeric solutions and to interpret data, and comprehensive exercise sets. Elementary Algebra, 9 edition: Kaufmann and Schwitters have built this text's reputation on clear and concise exposition, numerous examples, and plentiful problem sets. This traditional text consistently reinforces the following common thread: learn a skill; practice the skill to help solve equations; and then apply what you have learned to solve application problems

Beginning and Intermediate Algebra: An Integrated Approach, 6 edition: The new edition of BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA is an exciting and innovative revision that takes an already successful text and makes it more compelling for today's instructor and student. The new edition has been thoroughly updated with a new interior design and other pedagogical features that make the text both easier to read and easier to use. Known for its clear writing and an engaging, accessible approach that makes algebra relevant, BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA helps students to develop problemsolving skills and strategies that they can use in their everyday lives. The new edition welcomes two new coauthors Rosemary Karr and Marilyn Massey who along with David Gustafson have developed a learning plan to help students succeed in Beginning Algebra and transition to the next level in their coursework. The authors have developed an acute awareness of students' approach to homework and present a learning plan keyed to new Learning Objectives and supported by a comprehensive range of exercise sets that reinforces the material that students have learned setting the stage for their success. Algebra: Form and Function: This book offers a fresh approach to algebra that focuses on teaching readers how to truly understand the principles, rather than viewing them merely as tools for other forms of mathematics. It relies on a storyline to form the backbone of the chapters and make the material more engaging. Conceptual exercise sets are included to show how the information is applied in the real world. Using symbolic notation as a framework, business professionals will come away with a vastly improved skill set. Date Added: 9/22/2011 10:24:02 PM Visits: 23504
Elementary and Intermediate Algebra: A Combined Approach (5th Edition): Master algebraic fundamentals with Kaufmann/Schwitters Elementary and Intermediate Algebra 5e. Learn from clear and concise explanations, multiple examples and numerous problem sets in an easytoread format. The text's 'learn, use & apply' formula helps you learn a skill, use the skill to solve equations, then apply it to solve application problems. With this simple, straightforward approach, you will grasp and apply key problemsolving skills necessary for success in future mathematics courses. Date Added: 9/22/2011 10:20:38 PM Visits: 24457

Algebra: Graduate Studies in Mathematics: Algebra: Graduate Studies in Mathematics /by I. Martin Isaacs. This book, based on a firstyear graduate course the author taught at the University of Wisconsin, contains more than enough material for a twosemester graduatelevel abstract algebra course, including groups, rings and modules, fields and Galois theory, an introduction to algebraic number theory, and the rudiments of algebraic geometry. In addition, there are some more specialized topics not usually covered in such a course. These include transfer and character theory of finite groups, modules over artinian rings, modules over Dedekind domains, and transcendental field extensions. This book could be used for self study as well as for a course text, and so full details of almost all proofs are included, with nothing being relegated to the chapterend problems. There are, however, hundreds of problems, many being far from trivial. The book attempts to capture some of the informality of the classroom, as well as the excitement the author felt when taking the corresponding course as a student. Introductory Algebra An Applied Approach: As in previous editions, the focus in INTRODUCTORY ALGEBRA remains on the Aufmann Interactive Method (AIM). Students are encouraged to be active participants in the classroom and in their own studies as they work through the How To examples and the paired Examples and You Try It problems. The role of \"active participant\" is crucial to success. Presenting students with worked examples, and then providing them with the opportunity to immediately work similar problems, helps them build their confidence and eventually master the concepts. To this point, simplicity plays a key factor in the organization of this edition, as in all other editions. All lessons, exercise sets, tests, and supplements are organized around a carefullyconstructed hierarchy of objectives.
This \"objectivebased\" approach not only serves the needs of students, in terms of helping them to clearly organize their thoughts around the content, but instructors as well, as they work to design syllabi, lesson plans, and other administrative documents. The Eighth Edition features a new design, enhancing the Aufmann Interactive Method and the organization of the text around objectives, making the pages easier for both students and instructors to follow.
