Introduction, definition of terms, Qamp;As
In the operation of electronic systems and circuits, the basic function of a filter is to selectively pass, by frequency, desired signals and to suppress undesired signals. The amount of insertion loss and phase shift encountered by a signal passing through the filter is a function of the filter design.
Constant impedance IF bandpass filters improve circuit performance
Double-balanced mixers are normally very wideband. When used as down converters, the sum and difference frequencies are of equal amplitude. Filtering is essential to remove the sum frequency.
Band Pass Filters with Linear Phase Response
Filters with linear phase response are desirable, due to their flat group delay, in many applications, for example in image processing and digital data transmission. Such filters maximally preserve the wave shape of the pasing signal, since they delay all frequency components of the signal by the same amount (i.e. do not cause phase distortion).
RF Filter Design
Signal filtering is often central to the design of many communication subsystems. The isolation or elimination of information contained in frequency ranges is of critical importance. In simple amplitude modulation (AM) radio receivers, for example, the user selects one radio station using a bandpass filter techniques.
