Hubs vs. Switches

EBook Description: On the outside, hubs and switches appear very similar in that they both have a number of RJ-45 jacks for connecting devices. Inside, however, they work very differently. This document describes the differences between the two. CNS recommends that you use switches for wiring closets rather than hubs. Small mini-hubs may still be appropriate for offices where there are not enough jacks for every device. Talk to your network consultant if you have questions about whether a hub is appropriate.
